Settings

Settings has six sections: General, Shortcuts, Translation engines, OCR, Network & advanced, Help & support. Preference-style switches (language, startup, shortcuts, OCR engine, proxy) save immediately; form-style configuration needs an explicit save.

General

Language preferences

• Interface language: applies immediately. Available: 简体中文, English, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Français, Deutsch, Español, Português, Italiano, Русский, Polski, Türkçe, Tiếng Việt, ไทย, Bahasa Indonesia
• Selection & screenshot target language: the single target language used by quick translation (selection, screenshot, silent). It does not affect project language settings

Startup and windows

• Launch at login
• Keep the mini window open when it loses focus: same as the lock button inside the mini window

Shortcuts

Global shortcuts (fully customizable)

These three work in other applications too and can be set, changed or disabled individually:

Click Set or Change to start recording, then press the combination. Rules: one or more of Ctrl / Alt / Shift plus a letter or Enter; Cmd and single function keys are not supported. Esc cancels and keeps the previous shortcut.

Selection translation behavior

Choose one:

• Mini window (default): open the mini window and translate
• Follow the cursor: show the translation next to the mouse
• Silent: nothing is shown; insert it later with Apply translation

Double-press trigger

Bind double Ctrl and double Alt to: disabled (default), show/hide the main window, show/hide the mini window, mini-window translation, follow translation, or silent translation.

Translation Engines

Machine translation APIs

Use your own provider accounts; requests go from this device straight to the provider. Five providers are supported:

• Each provider has its own switch; disabling keeps the saved credentials
• DeepL cannot be used directly from the desktop client — it is only available through the platform service
• This is a plan entitlement: when the plan does not include it you can only disable providers, not enable new ones
• Saving records configuration only; real availability shows up on the first translation request

Large language models

Manage built-in and custom OpenAI-compatible models:

• Built-in models: provided by the platform, toggled in the list, billed in credits by usage
• Custom models: display name (optional), model ID, Base URL, API key, plus optional custom headers (a JSON object whose values must be strings). Requests go directly from this device
• Custom models are also plan-gated: without the entitlement you can only disable or delete them

OCR

For screenshot translation and image recognition:

• Engine: Tesseract OCR (default, nothing to install) or Rapid OCR (recommended, requires a local plugin)
• Rapid OCR plugin: Download and install over the network, or Install from local file with the official ZIP; refresh the status anytime. The engine option stays disabled until the plugin is installed

Network & Advanced

Proxy

• Proxy address: e.g. http://127.0.0.1:7890; empty means the default connection. Takes effect after a restart
• Current egress IP: fetch the public IP for troubleshooting network or allowlist issues

Online service

• Service address: empty means the built-in service; enter a full HTTP/HTTPS address to use a self-hosted server. The client then uses that server for accounts, billing and language services

Data backup

• Export backup: choose Current data, the pre-import safety copy, or any daily backup from the last 30 days; exported as a timestamped .db file
• Import backup: overwrites all data on this device (projects, memories and termbases, translation records, chats, parse results). Requires repeated confirmation plus typing confirm, and takes effect after a restart. The current database is copied to .client-sqlite.pre-restore.db first, so you can roll back

Recommended Setups

First-time setup

1. Enable launch at login and the selection shortcut
2. Start with mini window selection mode, then move to silent + Alt+V once comfortable
3. Set the selection & screenshot target language to the language you translate into most
4. If screenshot OCR is weak, install the Rapid OCR plugin and switch engines
5. Export a database backup regularly

Power-user setup

1. Configure your own MT credentials so translation does not consume platform credits
2. Add your own OpenAI-compatible model for high-quality translation and Agent translation
3. Point the service address at a self-hosted server for enterprise use
4. Set a proxy if you need a fixed egress and restart

FAQ

Q: Can a shortcut be a single key?

A: No. At least one modifier (Ctrl / Alt / Shift) plus a letter or Enter is required, to avoid clashing with text input.

Q: Why doesn't the proxy change take effect?

A: The proxy is applied at startup. The page shows "Proxy saved, restart to apply" — click Restart app.

Q: Where is the theme switch?

A: There is none; the app follows the system light/dark setting.

Q: Where is cloud sync?

A: There is no cloud sync. To move data, export the database with Data backup and import it on the other device.

Q: I added a custom model but cannot select it.

A: Make sure the model is enabled in the Large language models list and that your plan includes custom models; otherwise the custom group is greyed out.

Q: I imported a backup but nothing changed.

A: The database is replaced on the next launch. If "Restart now" did not help, check whether another instance is still running.
