PDF Split

Split a PDF into several files by fixed page count, packed as a ZIP

PDF Split

Cut a large PDF into chunks of N pages — for sending chapters separately, distributing pages for review, or breaking a scanned bundle into individual documents. Everything runs locally; nothing is uploaded.

Steps

  1. File tools → PDF Split
  2. Choose a PDF (via the picker or drag-and-drop; one file at a time)
  3. Set Pages per file (1–1000, default 10)
  4. The preview shows the source page count and how many PDFs will be produced
  5. Click Split and save and choose where to put the ZIP

Rules

  • Page order is preserved — nothing is reordered
  • The last chunk keeps the remainder when the total is not divisible
  • One ZIP output, named originalname_split.zip

Use Cases

  • Split a 200-page tender into 20-page bundles for reviewers
  • Break a scanned bundle into single documents
  • Split before translating or converting to keep batches small

Notes

  1. Encrypted PDFs are not supported — remove the password first
  2. One file per run; repeat for more files
  3. Output path: the tool refuses a path identical to the source, so the original is never overwritten
  4. Page cap: pages per file must be ≤ 1000
  5. Size: split files are often larger than a proportional estimate, because fonts and images are re-embedded in each part

FAQ

Q: Can split files be merged back?

A: Yes — add them to PDF Merge in the original order.

Q: Why is the save path rejected?

A: The output cannot be the source file. Choose another directory or file name.

Q: Splitting failed. What now?

A: Check that the PDF opens normally (not corrupt, not encrypted), that the page count looks sane, and try a different output folder.
